Consumer/Home Equity Loan Support

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 

MPS Credit Union is seeking a dedicated and member-focused Consumer/Home Equity Loan Support Specialist to join our Lending team. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for an early- to mid-career professional with 1-3 years of experience in consumer lending or financial services and a background in educating members about financial products and services.

In this role, you'll be a key point of contact for members throughout the consumer and home equity lending process. You'll assist with loan applications, prepare and process loan documentation, coordinate with underwriters, and help ensure loans are completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements. You'll also cross sell and educate members on optional loan protection products, including insurance and warranty offerings, helping them make informed decisions based on their financial needs.

What You'll Do

  • Assist members and prospective members with consumer and home equity loan inquiries by phone and in person.
  • Explain loan products, rates, promotions, and application requirements while providing exceptional member service.
  • Process and prepare loan documents for consumer and mortgage loan closings.
  • When needed, schedule appointments with loan closers.
  • Enter, update, and maintain loan information in MeridianLink, Coviance, and other lending systems.
  • Collect, review, and verify required loan documentation, including income verification, insurance, appraisals, title work, and identification.
  • Ensure loan files are accurate, complete, and compliant with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare disclosures, adverse action notices, and other lending correspondence.
  • Process home equity loan disbursements, mortgage satisfactions, subordinations, collateral protection insurance, and quarterly home equity rate updates.
  • Explain and cross-sell optional loan protection products, including GAP coverage, extended warranties, mechanical breakdown protection, and credit life/disability insurance, helping members choose products that fit their individual needs.
  • Maintain loan files and provide administrative support to the Lending Department.

What We're Looking For

  • 1-3 years of experience in consumer & real estate lending, loan processing, or financial services.
  • Experience selling, discussing, and recommending financial, insurance, and warranty products, in a member-facing environment.
  • Knowledge of consumer loan products, loan documentation, and lending procedures.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and consultative sales skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Experience with Flex, MeridianLink, Coviance, or similar lending platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within BSA/ AML regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Associate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Assistant Teller Supervisor (Full-Time)- Doral Office

MPS Credit Union is looking for an Assistant Teller Supervisor to join our team! In this full-time, in-person role, you’ll help lead and support our tellers, oversee daily cash and teller operations, assist members with their financial needs, and ensure transactions are handled accurately and securely. You’ll also provide training, solve problems, and step in as Teller Supervisor when needed.

SUMMARY 

Act as a Team Member of MPSCU’s Operations Department (specifically Tellers).

Follow detailed and standardized procedures in supervising and assuring the smooth and accurate flow of work through the teller line by enforcing the application of policies and procedures at all times.

Serve as a source of knowledge, training and guidance to all Tellers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

  • Adhere to the mission, vision, and core values of MPS Credit Union.
  • Assist the Teller Supervisor with teller operations, including scheduling hours, assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, assisting with complex transactions and member relations issues, and explaining policies and procedures to tellers and members.
  • Supervise, support, and direct all tellers by providing ongoing training and guidance. Provide teller training as needed, including for new hires.
  • Ensure staff are trained and cross-trained in all phases of their jobs and in all credit union products and services to ensure excellent member service.
  • Ensure all teller windows are open and operational before the doors are opened.
  • Perform all duties and functions of a teller.
  • Manage vault cash, including balancing teller and vault cash each morning, ordering and picking up cash, verifying cash, and distributing cash for daily operations.
  • Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift, compare totals to computer-generated proof sheets, research and resolve discrepancies, and report discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Approve check holds, place holds on accounts for uncollected funds, and perform overrides as necessary.
  • Approve new members for Remote Deposit Capture and process transactions daily.
  • Post incoming funds transfers from the Federal Reserve Bank and/or Corporate FCU.
  • Ensure all ATM deposits are posted to accounts before 12:00 p.m. under dual control.
  • Ensure courtesy pay fees are posted before the end of the day.
  • Implement and direct “off-line” procedures for operating and balancing teller windows if the computer system is not operational.
  • Assign special duties and projects to tellers as appropriate and monitor completion of all tasks.
  • Provide information to members and potential members regarding all credit union products and services.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of credit union services, rates, and policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations governing credit union operations, as well as fraud prevention techniques and current scams. Ensure front-line staff are informed of scams.
  • Maintain or assign maintenance of logs for gift cards, cashier’s/official checks, bait money, and large currency transactions.
  • Process returned checks from the Federal Reserve or Corporate FCU.
  • Maintain the petty cash fund and balance petty cash at the end of each month under dual control.
  • Redeem savings bonds and maintain required records for reporting earned bond interest.
  • Perform accounting adjustments.
  • Process the PM closing of the credit union, including computer operations and updates, reports and totals, outgoing mail, night cash storage, and routine closing procedures.
  • Complete annual training and demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with the BSA/AML Compliance Program as it relates to job responsibilities.
  • Assist other officers with problems, errors, and corrections as needed.
  • Process incoming and returned mail.
  • Help identify computer hardware and software malfunctions and ensure the proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the work area and equipment.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional attitude when answering questions, explaining services, and promoting credit union products and services.
  • Perform the duties of the Teller Supervisor in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

  •  Thorough knowledge of computer operations systems, internet surfing and productivity suites (including  but not limited to e-mail as well as word, database, spreadsheet, graphic, presentation and communication  processing programs). Ability to use phone, ten key calculator, copy and fax machine.
